Visit with Bob, Denise and Family in Colorado - July 2007

Rocke and I went on a business trip to Boise, Idaho in July. We would be halfway to Bob and Denise's, Rocke's brother and sister-in-law, so we decided we would travel down to Colorado Springs for a visit with them and their family.

We left Boise on Thursday afternoon and drove down to Ogden, Utah to spend the night. We were up and at 'em bright and early on Friday morning for our drive to Colorado Springs, and arrived there around 5:30 p.m. Bob, Denise, Randy, Kelly, Riley, and Reese were out on the porch to greet us. It had been about three years since we had seen them, and what a great sight to see all those smiling faces waiting for us. We had not seen them since May of 2004, so there was a lot to catch up on. My, how the boys had grown!

Randy is Bob and Denise's oldest son. We would get to see their youngest son Rob and his family on Saturday.

Denise had a delicious home cooked meal, Spanish Rice, waiting for us. After hugging everyone, we all sat down to enjoy the meal while visiting and catching up with each other. After the meal and some more visiting, it was time to get some much needed rest after our long drive.

On Saturday, we slept in and relaxed around the house until it was time to meet Rob, Sarah, Kristen and Ryan for lunch. It's a tradition for Bob and Denise to meet with their sons and their families on Saturdays at Fargo's for pizza. While enjoying some pizza, they catch up on what has happened in everyone's family for the week. What a great tradition! Fargo's is one of Colorado's most beautiful restaurants, Fargo's Pizza mixes fun, great food, and a fantastic atmosphere all under one building. The two-story Victorian style building seats 500, while serving arguably the best pizza in Colorado. The restaurant features a game room, reasonable prices, and a setting that takes its customers back to the 1800s. Don't miss out on this entertaining pizzeria when visiting Colorado Springs. You will not be disappointed.

Saturday evening, Denise had fixed another delicious meal, Pork Roast dinner for everyone.

Sunday, we all went out to the race track and watched Riley, Reese and Randy show us their stuff on their motor bikes. It was amazing to watch Riley and Reese on their motorcycles out on the race track. Those two boys are not afraid of anything and are always raring to get on their bikes.

After having fun on the motorcycles, it was time to get back to the house so we could get ready to go out to dinner. We were going to the Texas Road House to celebrate Denise's birthday, which was on July 13th. What a fun place to celebrate, good food, great company, and Denise even had the wait staff come out and sing Happy Birthday to her.

Monday came way too soon and we had to leave for Portland, Oregon. We left early to beat the rush hour traffic in Denver, which we did and made good time getting back to Boise, Idaho, where we would spend the night. Tuesday was an easy day for us traveling back to Portland.

On the way back, we stopped in The Dalles to visit and enjoy lunch with my son, Michael. We were back home on Tuesday afternoon, returned the rental car and got busy getting ready for a visit from Robin, Mary and our granddaughters, Erin, Kate, and Megan, from California. They would arrive in Portland on Friday.
