Lighthouse Keeper

Have you ever climbed the stairs of a lighthouse? Wondered what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper?

Visiting the Yaquina Head Lighthouse will answer your questions. Once you walk circles up a number of lighthouse stairs (114 steps), you'll find a volunteer, dressed like the lighthouse keepers used to dress. You can talk with the lighthouse keeper or any of the volunteers at the lighthouse . . . they're all very nice and have a number of interesting stories and facts to tell you.

Also, at the top of the stairs, you can get a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding area and a good view of the lens that magnifies a blinking 1000 watt light bulb.
