This lamp was operated by the U. S. Lighthouse Service on a buoy or as a range light in Yaquina Bay from an unknown time until 1934.

Post Lantern single-wick lamps burned kerosene or paraffin. They were made for the Lighthouse Service by the Dietz Company from 1888-1912.

This lamp was filled and lit in Yaquina Bay every evening for many years by the Lighthouse Service.
