Robin & Mary's Visit - May, 2003

Robin, Mary, Erin, and Kate had not seen their new nephew and cousin, so they decided to come to Oregon to meet Zach. While here, they figured they might as well visit with some of the other family members as well (just kidding). They all were anxious to meet the newest member of the Warren family.

We all decided to meet down at Zach's home on Sunday afternoon of May 25th. Ross, Heather, Austin, Rocke and I arrived at Zach's house, wondering where the Warren's from California were. Rocke had called Robin & Mary from his cell phone when we turned off I-5 to see where they were. They were close, so they should be here soon.

Robin, Mary, Erin and Kate finally arrived and most of us went outside to meet them. Rocke and I were excited to see the grand-daughters again. We had not seen them since February, when Rocke and I went to California for Rocke's birthday. They had grown, but had not forgotten us and came running to us for a hug, Nothing like a big hug from grandchildren!

We all had a wonderful Sunday afternoon visiting and getting reaquainted with the grand-daughters. Erin and Kate were excited about meeting their new cousin. After meeting him, touching, and talking to Zach, they decided it was time to to play with Uncle Ryan and their cousin Austin. It was soon time for us to leave, so the new mom, dad and baby could get some much needed rest.

Rocke and I met Robin, Mary and the girls back at our house. Ross, Heather, & Austin came to the house and we all enjoyed cooking hamburgers out on the grill.

Monday, all the Warrens showed up for a cookout at our home. It was nice having all the kids and grandkids together for the afternoon. Robin, Mary and the girls had brought some gifts for Zach and we spent some time opening them. Since Robin, Mary and the girls were not going to be here for Austin's birhday, they decided to give him his gifts. The fun continued as Austin opened his birthday gifts from Uncle Robin, Aunt Mary, and cousins, Erin & Kate.

Tuesday, Robin and Mary took some time for themselves while Rocke and I babysat the grand-daughters. . . what a wonderful time we had. Mary put Kate down for her nap before they left, but it didn't take Kate long to come downstairs once she heard the door close (she was so cute about it . . . there was no way could I send her back upstairs for her nap). While Robin and Mary went out to enjoy a movie, Erin, Kate and I enjoyed making some cookies. Such a wonderful time I had making cookies with the girls. They wanted to do it all, from measuring the flour, breaking the eggs, putting the dough on the cookie sheet to put them in the oven to bake. (I think they are going to be great cooks).

On Wednesday, we made plans to join Robin, Mary, Erin, Kate, Ross, Heather and Austin at the Enchanted Forest in Salem. Mary's brother, Dave also joined us for some fun at the park. Going to this amusement park has become a tradition for the Warren boys when they get together. Now that they all have kids, it is a fun place for them to visit. Ryan, Sarah and Zach did not make it this year, as Zach had just been born and there would be a lot of walking. Rocke and I arrived at the park and met everyone up by the picnic tables. While the gang had lunch, Rocke and I walked around the areas of the park where the group had already been. We met them back at the picnic table and we all continued on around the park. Such fun with the grandkids, who were very excited about all the rides and running from one ride to another.

Robin & Mary spent Thursday and Friday visiting with friends and trying to get in some rest time for their trip back to California on Saturday.

Rocke and I were sorry to see the week come to an end, which meant that Robin and Mary would be taking our grand-daughters back to California with them. It is always such a joy to spend time playing, reading and talking with the girls. They are such cute and fun girls (not that we're prejudiced).
