Happy Birthday Rocke - February 16, 2008

I surprised Rocke this year for his birthday and reserved seats for us to an interactive, musical comedy, dinner theater to see Who Stole My Dead Husband? I was happy that our tickets were on his actual birthday. We both were looking forward to Rocke's special day and going to see the show.

There were no plans for the family to get together, but Heather called and wanted to bring Austin and Sydney over so they could give Grandpa a birthday gift. I ran out and got a huge birthday cookie, so we could celebrate Rocke's birthday with them. I'm sure glad I did, because after they got here, Heather told us that Austin and Sydney talked about grandpa's birthday and were looking forward to celebrating his birthday with cake and candles (the huge birthday cookie was acceptable in place of the cake by Austin and Sydney).

We all sang Happy Birthday to grandpa, then he blew out the candles. While enjoying some birthday cookie, grandpa opened his gift and Austin and Sydney had a great time telling grandpa about some of the things that had taken place in their lives since the last time we saw them.

After Austin and Sydney finished their cookie and drink, Heather and I took them for a walk around the neighborhood. We met a lady who was walking her two dogs, and she was kind enough to let Austin and Sydney help her walk the dogs. Heather and I thought it looked like the dogs were walking the kids. Finally tired of being pulled around by the dogs, Austin and Sydney enjoyed running and playing on our way back to the house.

After Heather and the kids left, Rocke and I got ready to go see Who Stole My Dead Husband? The play was a tribute to growing up Italian in Brooklyn, New York.

I had read that it was part theater and part improvisation, and that it would make every show unique and special. And that it was!! Because the action takes place all around the room, there wasn't a bad seat in the house. We were seated at a round table with six other people. As soon as Rocke and I sat down they all introduced themselves to us. What a great time we had visiting with them and enjoying the show. Before the night was over with, it felt like we had met some new friends.

What a great time we had. We would definitely go to a dinner theater performances again.
