Sydney's 1st Birthday Party - January 8th, 2006

Rocke and I were invited to help celebrate Sydney's first birthday on January 8th, at 11:00am at Sydney's home. Where does the time go, wasn't she born just yesterday!!

When we arrived at Sydney's house, her mom (Heather) and dad (Ross) had it all decorated for her big celebration. The guests began to arrive and the house was filled with chatter and laugher as we all got together to celebrate Sydney's turning one year old.

Ross and Heather had prepared a lunch of sandwiches and chips for everyone to enjoy while visiting. It was fun seeing everyone and catching up with what has been happening in everyone's life. . The kids enjoyed running around playing with Austin and Sydney's toys. Sydney had just gotten a new "Kitchen" playset for her birthday and the kids seemed to enjoy checking that out.

Then is was time for Sydney to open her gifts (with a little help from her mom and her big brother, Austin). Sydney started out opening her gifts by climbing on top of her first big package to show everyone this was her day and her gifts. Mom took control and help Sydney off the package so they could start opening the gift. Sydney's big brother, Austin, had a great time helping his little sister and before we knew it, all the gifts had been open and we were ready to enjoy some birthday cake and ice cream.

Dad lit the candle on Sydney's cake and we sang "Happy Birthday" to her. With some help, she was able to blow the candle out. Heather then put Sydney in her high chair and all the guests stood around waiting for Sydney to get the first piece of cake. We all had a wonderful time watching Sydney "dig" into her birthday cake. First she started out with one hand and she was having so much fun, she decided to "dig" in with both hands. Not only did she get some cake into her mouth, she got some on her face and in her hair. Occasionally, Sydney took a break from digging into her cake to show us all how much fun she was having and to taste some cake and icing now and then.

Then, the birthday guests were served cake and ice cream while Sydney finished eating her cake. After a few more bites of her birthday cake, Sydney was ready for mom to give her a bath.

We spent a little more time visiting with Sydney and other birthday guests before leaving for home so the birthday girl could get some much needed rest.
